Tampons Recalled After Falling Apart and Leaving Pieces Inside
If you use Kotex tampons, you may want to throw them out. Tampons from the last 2 years are being recalled after reports of them falling apart and even leaving pieces inside you.
The Kotex Sleek Tampons, Regular Absorbency is the only brand under the voluntary recall. Consumers reported "unraveling and/or coming apart upon removal, and in some cases causing users to seek medical attention to remove tampon pieces left in the body."
Some people have even suffered infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury, along with other symptoms.
The tampons were distributed between October 17, 2016 and October 23, 2018 in the U.S and Canada. To check to see if your Kotex Sleek tampons are under the recall, look for specific lot numbers on the bottom of your package. Get the full list of recalled lot numbers on the U by Kotex website.
Stores are taking the recalled tampons off shelves and you're advised to stop using and throw away. If you have questions, call 1-888-255-3499 between 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
