It was a loud start to the morning for some in Central New York. Strong storms rolled through Onondaga, Madison and Oneida counties, bringing lightning, deafening thunder that woke many and tornado warnings.
Severe thunderstorms that could bring large hail and possible tornadoes are expected in central New York but the worst of the storms will be south of the New York Thruway.
The sunshine was short lived in CNY. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect with heavy downpours, possible flash flooding, hail and even a few tornadoes.
The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for severe weather overnight in CNY, that could bring strong thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes.
