It was right around Christmas of 2015 that the people of New Hartford learned DeFazio's Pizzeria was closing for good. The popular eatery left a void in the village that some thought irreplaceable. Now a sign in the window of the old pizza shop has people excited again.
New businesses are popping up all over New Hartford along Commercial Drive, and the latest is a new Auto Zone. It's being built where the old Two Tones Tacos was located. Across from this new retailer are two new eateries in progress. All new businesses, local or chains, are a positive sign for the area.
A brand new department store is expected to fill the vacancy left by Sears at the Sangertown Square mall. For a big name store to invest in this location shows the progress and hope that still exists there.
Our area has been blessed with a number of new businesses that have opened their doors in 2015. It is a sign of the true growth that is happening right here in Central New York. The 10 have not only provided hope, but also jobs and in most cases a lot of new tax revenue, which is always a huge benefit.
