Rain and high waters on Lake Ontario have caused flooding in the area to become extreme in the past few weeks, even washing away enough of the shoreline to leave a cottage perched on the edge of disaster.

Mother Nature showed her power as a storm rolled through most of central and upstate New York. Photographer Brad Smith captured that power over Lake Ontario.

On November 4th 1862, The Bay State steamship left Oswego heading for Cleveland and Toledo. The ship never made it to it's final destination, it sank to the bottom of Lake Ontario during a terrible storm. In October of 2015, the ship saw the light of day once again.
