You've got to be tough to participate in this grueling race, and one Upstate New York person is up for the challenge.

On this day, July 4th, 1960, Hawaii, our 50th state had its star added to the American Flag. Earlier, the flag consisted of 49 stars, with the addition of Alaska as our 49th state in 1959.
