Okay here's the ground rules in picking your top 5 summer songs.  They have to be about summer or bring back a memory of a summer event.  I threw a couple of curve balls in, but mine all ended being about summer anyway.

I grew up loving "Summertime Blues" before Alan Jackson made it a hit.  And seeing that I grew up on a farm, driving trucks thru mud was always a favorite past time, so Alan's version gets the nod.

Now this one, Toby's "Get Drunk and be Somebody",  may be more about memories or Labor Day than it is about summer.  But it was blue collar, working for the paycheck at a couple of  factory jobs I had and this was the typical "Paycheck Friday" night custom.

Hey a country boy can like some rock 'n roll too.  I was never a huge "Kid Rock" fan until I saw him sing, "I Saw the Light" a few years ago.  But "All Summer Long" is a great summer tune.

Here's curve ball number 1, not that Faith Hill's "Sunshine and Summertime" isn't a great summer song, it's just a little girly for a guy that's been talking about muddin' and factory workin', but those long black boots make up for it.

And last and but certainly not least, Mungo Jerry's "In The Summertime."  A summer song for sure, but it's more of a memory.  Being young, fishing on the lake with my portable radio/8-track and blasting the hits.  I still hear my dad, "We're never going to catch anything if you don't quiet down!"  To quote Trace Adkins, "He thought we were just fishin."

That's my top 5, what's yours?  Leave your thoughts below.
