No dental insurance? No problem. The SUNY Canton/MVCC Dental Hygiene Teaching Clinic is offering dental check-ups that include getting your teeth cleaned and X-rays. This service is free to Veterans, $10.00 for children and $15.00 for adults.  

The SUNY Canton/MVCC Dental Hygiene Teaching Clinic, located in the VA Outpatient Medical Facility in the Griffiss Business and Technology Park at 125 Brookley Road in Rome, is accepting patients for the spring semester.

The senior level students provide a cancer screening exam, cavity check, periodontal screening, cleaning and apply fluoride under the supervision of a faculty member. X-rays are also taken when indicated and the patient is given a copy to take home.

Other services provided in their teaching clinic include:

  • Scaling and Root Planing
  • Irrigation of Periodontal Pockets
  • Topical Fluoride Treatments
  • Application of Desensitizing Agents
  • Application of Pit and Fissure Sealants
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Impressions and Fabrication of Sports Mouthguards
  • Polishing of Amalgam Restorations

To help with the cost of dental supplies, adult patients are asked to pay a $15 fee, children over the age of 6 are $10.00 and Veterans are provided care free of charge.
