They call Prospect Mountain the 100-mile view for a reason. You can take in spectacular views of Lake George and the Adirondacks in every direction as far as the eye can see. In a salute to Veterans, New York's DEC is waving user fees for special days in November.

The road up Prospect Mountain is named the Veterans Memorial Parkway and offers breathtaking scenery sure to make you reflect. For the free use of the overlooks, the DEC asks you to take a moment to remember the sacrifices our veterans paid to protect and serve our country.

The Parkway has three overlooks; the Narrows, Lake George, and Eagle's Eye. Shuttles provide access to the summit, or you can choose to hike two different trails and make the climb yourself. Shuttles have wheelchair lifts and walkways are accessible with view scopes.

The $10 per car user fee will be waived for the 1st two weekends in November and for Veterans Day, Monday, November 11.  The park will close for the season the following day. Read more about the park at the DEC's website and take a virtual tour of the view.
