An anonymous "Secret Santa" gave away $20 thousand dollars of his own money, mostly in $100 bills,  to needy residents of the economically hard hit city of Reading, Pennsylvania Tuesday night. According to the Reading Eagle the "Secret Santa" was accompanied by police to various locations such as shelters, goodwill shops and bus stations. The "Secret Santa" tradition was started by Kansas City businessman Larry Stewart who gave away nearly $1.3 million dollars over 25 years until his death in 2006. The current "Secret Santa" says he was inspired by Stewart to continue his work.

"I promised him on his deathbed that I would continue the tradition of Secret Santa," the current Santa said.
