For the second time in less than a week, a small earthquake has hit near Western New York.

The 2.4 magnitude quake struck under Lake Ontario near Ajax, Ontario Canada, 25 miles East of Toronto, according to Earthquake Track. It hit at 5:27pm Tuesday, May 8th and was reported by over a dozen people.

Last Friday, May 4th a 1.5 magnitude earthquake was reported in Lake Ontario, about 26 miles northwest of Sodus Point.

Small quakes aren't unusual for Western New York. One hit near Buffalo last November. A few months after a small one, also outside Buffalo.
