Robin Williams has died. The iconic actor and comedian was found in his California home on Monday (Aug. 11), his cause of death an apparent suicide, as confirmed by the Marin County Sheriff’s department.

He had a troubling history of drug abuse and was struggling with depression at the time of his death, though he'd entered a 12-step program to battle his addictions at the beginning of July. A comprehensive investigation will be performed before an official cause of death is revealed.
