Polly’s Annual Reminder: Don’t Wait to Prep Mobile Homes for Winter

Who knows when the snow and bitter cold will hit? The Farmer's Almanac says we're going to get hammered with snow, ice, and rain in the coming months, but SnowBrains says we'll actually get less snow because of a weakened La Niña.

Keep the Warm Air In and the Cold Air Out

I don't have the answer to that one, but I can tell you that I don't want to be winterizing my mobile home or fussing with my furnace when it's -10 degrees out. I hate being cold, so anything I can do to stay warm this winter we'll be doing while it's still comfortable outside.

That means we'll check the skirting, windows, and doors to see if they need to be replaced or upgraded to more energy-efficient models. Our furnace was chugging along this spring, so I don't anticipate any issues there, but it never hurts to start up the furnace once early to check for persistent bad smells, weird noises, an inability to produce heat, or any other warning signs.
