A police chase led to the capture of an Onondaga County man with more than a dozen outstanding warrants.

The New York State Police says that troopers with the NYSP's Community Stabilization Unit out of Troop D tried to stop the driver of a vehicle for several alleged traffic violations at approximately 8:18pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.  At the time all vehicles were on Thompson Road in the town of Dewitt.

According to a written release the NYSP says that the suspect driver allegedly failed to stop and led troopers on a car chase.

The NYSP eventually stopped the vehicle and and took the driver into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as 47-year-old Stephen R. Marks from Syracuse, New York.

During the arrest a search was performed on Marks' background and police discovered that there were nineteen outstanding warrants for his arrest.  One of the charges was for an alleged kidnapping that that took place in North Carolina in 2019.

Because of the outstanding warrants the United States Marshal's Task Force was called to the scene.  They took Marks into custody and charged him as a fugitive from justice.

No injuries were reported as a result of the arrest.
