One of Central New York's favorite ice cream shops has been making headlines for making it on ABC's "The Middle" at the end of one episode. Now it seems that the Nicky Doodles location in Utica is for sale.

Nicky Doodles has been in Central New York for close to twenty years. They first opened in Rome, then Verona, and operate in New Hartford as well. Nicky Doodles as been family owned by the Twomey family. The location in North Utica closed for the season over Labor Day, and it seems it is now closed for good. The reason, the store was taking many hours to manage:

Managing the stores prior to Utica’s closure, Twomey said, required long hours that were difficult for his sons and son-in-law, who have small children of their own. These hours could range from 7 a.m. for setup to around 11 p.m., he said."

Twomey tells the Utica OD that the family has gotten to the point where they are too busy to put the time and effort into the business that it deserves. If you are interested in owning, or leasing the place, you can contact the family for more information.
