New York’s Hunting Under the Influence Law Getting Stricter
As currently written, New York law allows you to drink more while hunting than while operating a vehicle. But it's about to change under some proposed legislation.
New York considers you legally drunk if your bac is .08 or higher when operating a car, truck, boat, or snowmobile. And I guess in some cases a lawnmower too. But your not legally hunting under the influence unless your bac number is .1.
A story in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, reports the Assembly's Environmental Committee is proposing a bill to make "hunting under the influence" the same as operating a vehicle. It's part of more than 204 bills proposed by the committee that if passed would impact hunting, fishing, and trapping in the state.
