If you or the kids are thinking about summer camps this year, booking early is important to get the dates you want. The Department of Environmental Conservation offers camps at 4 locations running for one week periods, June 30th through August 23. Here's the when and where.

There are four DEC summer camps broken down into age groups of 11 - 13 and 14 - 17. Camps are held at:

Camps offer a wide variety of outdoor adventures; including fishing, bird watching, fly-tying, archery, canoeing, hiking, camping, orienteering, and hunter safety education. The hunter education programs are available for either gun, bow, or trapping and are offered at each camp each week. Campers have to sign up during registration and complete some work at home before camp starts.

A special one week camp is held at Pack Forest for children interested in a career in the outdoors. It's for 14 - 17-year-olds only and is offered only July 21 through 26.  "Outdoor Adventure Week 2.0" is guided by DEC professionals offering insight into career opportunities.

The video below features some of the activities at the annual camps. Registration opens January 23 and applications are only accepted online. For more information call 518-402-8014.
