The NBA's New Orleans Hornets will be going through some changes for the 2013-14 season. According to Yahoo! Sports the team plants to officially announce the switch to their new nickname, the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite widespread criticism the New Orleans franchise will stick with the Pelican nickname. The pelican is the state bird of Louisiana, known as the Pelican State. New Orleans franchise held on to the Hornets name following a move from Charlotte in 2002. Fans of the Charlotte Bobcats, who replaced the Hornets after the move, hope to reclaim the Hornet nickname in the future. Read more from Yahoo! here.
