NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon Announced That 2015 Will Be His Last Season
NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon has announced that the 2015 racing season will be his last in the number 24 car.
ESPN reports that made the announcement on January 22nd 2015 at the number 24 team headquarters at Hendrick Motorsports.
"As a race car driver, much of what I've done throughout my life has been based on following my instincts and trying to make good decisions," Gordon said in a release. "I thought long and hard about my future this past year and during the offseason, and I've decided 2015 will be the last time I compete for a championship.
Gordon doesn't want to call it retirement, but it technically is. Growing up I was a huge Jeff Gordon fan. I collected all the cars, and I would race them around my bedroom. I had everything from his Babe Ruth car, to the Superman car. He will be missed, but he is such a stand up act. He's had one heck of a career.
