Going to college isn't easy or cheap. Students may find that their dream school is simply more expensive than they can afford and choose an alternative option. Forbes has released their annual ranking of America’s Best Value colleges. Here's the most expensive ones across New York, that provide the best value.

They took a look at the highest-ranking Best Value colleges that also charge the most for attendance. While these schools are pricey, they also have the highest payoff. This means that students graduate on time and make higher post-graduation earnings. These results were according to College Scorecard and PayScale data.

Here's the few schools listed from across Upstate New York, and their ranking on the list:

22) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Troy, NY
$32,986: Average annual net price
No. 58: Overall Best Value Rank
No. 126: Top College Rank

12) Colgate University

Hamilton, NY
$17,711: Average annual net price
No. 37: Overall Best Value Rank
No. 40: Top College Rank

11) Cornell University

Ithaca, NY
$26,484: Average annual net price
No. 36: Overall Best Value Rank
No. 25: Top College Rank

Interesting enough Syracuse University and Hamilton College were not listed on this list. Yes both schools can get pricey, but they did not meet the criteria of this survey.
