Thanks to the groundhog, we in central New York are in the midst of our "six more weeks of winter." But there's light at the end of the tunnel. Have you noticed that it's staying lighter, longer in the day?

Spring arrives on March 20th, a mere 26 days from now with the arrival of the vernal equinox. And ever since winter began, each day is getting a little longer, ever so gradually.

Let's take a quick look. According to "The Old Farmer's Almanac 2014",

"On January 1, 2014, the run rose at 7:13 a.m. and set at 4:22 p.m. giving us a total of 9 hours and 9 minutes of daylight. Fast forward to today: February 22, 2014, the sun rose at 6:30 a.m. and will set at 5:25 p.m., for 10 hours and 55 minutes of daylight."

That's almost 2 hours more of light!

I know that we've still got a long way to go, but we are definitely moving in the right direction.
