Life has been more stressful than ever all across the world in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Now more than ever, we need the good news about people helping people.

Many employees in a number of states just lost their jobs as governors ordered all restaurants, bars, theaters and casinos to close. One customer at Coaches on Bethel in Columbus, Ohio left a hefty tip for a restaurant service staff as they were getting ready to shut their doors.

The anonymous customer left a $2,500 tip on a $30 bill, asking the server to split the money between "Tara, Nicky, Jim, Liz, and Arrun."

Benny Leonard owns Coaches on Bethel talked to WBNS and seemed overcome with emotion about the kind donation.

"[There were] tears, tears of joy. An unbelievable act of kindness on a pretty weird day," Leonard told WBNS. "We’ve got unprecedented times going on, we’ve got people fighting over toilet paper and so on and so forth, and to have a guy show up and care enough about people that give him a beer and a hamburger once in a while, that means a lot. It’s humanity at its best."

Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered all restaurants, bars, theaters and casinos in New York to close by 8 p.m. Monday night. Many in central New York will continue to serve food through drive-through and take-out options. You can also support local businesses by purchasing gift cards and using them in the future.
