Herkimer Residents Have Opportunity To Comment on Proposed Jail Site

The Herkimer County Legislature wants to hear what the public has to say about the proposed jail site. Residents can comment Wednesday at 2pm at the county office building.

Several sites have been looked at for a new jail since 2000. It's been narrowed down to the former P&C site on RT 28 in Herkimer. However, the village and county have also been in a legal battle over that site for years. Village board trustee Harold Stoffolano has even voiced his opposition to the site.

If you'd like to voice your opinion, you can at the Legislature meeting Wednesday October 1st at 2pm.  It will be held on the third floor of the county office building on Mary Street in Herkimer.
