According to investigators at St. Louis University, it's possible to lose hearing from driving in that awesome looking convertible.

Those investigators say that driving at 55 mph makes sound levels about 85 decibels. And, driving 75 mph made levels of 89.9 decibels. Why's that bad? Well, according to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, decibel levels over 85 are considered extreme and those kinds of levels can cause hearing damage.

Dr. Anthony Mikulec says "long duration driving at high speeds will increase the driver's risk of hearing loss."

What's your choice? Looking cool in a speeding convertible, or taking it slow to save your ear drums? The study never said anything about earplugs.
