Whether you're a Yankee or Met fan or not, you have to admit that Yogi Berra is one of the most colorful figures in Major League Baseball. And today, Yogi celebrates his 86th birthday.

Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra was born on May 12, 1925. He played most of his career as a New York Yankee catcher, but he also played one season for the New York Mets.  He managed both the Yankees and the Mets, and is a beloved figure in the New York Metropolitan area (and everywhere else). One of my favorite memories of all time was about 10 years ago, when I took my son to the old Yankee Stadium for "Old Timers Day", and we saw Yogi Berra step out on the field and tip his hat to the crowd.

Yogi is known for his "words of wisdom" -  phrases that he is credited with saying, even though in some cases he says he didn't say them.  My favorite Yougi-sm is: "If you come to a fork in the road, take it".
