Similar to the lavish openings the NFL has produced for Sunday and Monday Night Football, NASCAR will be adding a produced opening to their race coverage.  And like the NFL chose country music stars, so has NASCAR, enlisting the "Redneck Woman", Gretchen Wilson to handle the job.  Click for the details.

According to the Nashville newspaper, The Tennessean, Gretchen Wilson produce a featured opening for the 10 races that will make up the NASCAR "Chase For The Sprint Cup."  As Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood did for NBC's Sunday Night NFL Opening and Hank Jr. did for ESPN's Monday Night Football, Gretchen will produce a piece specific to each week's race and how "The Chase" is shaping up.

"I've been a racing fan ever since my uncle ran dirt tracks outside St. Louis when I was a kid,” she said. “He would let me clean the mud out of the wheel wells with a 2x4, and I thought I was part of the pit crew.

Gretchen's performances will begin with Sunday, September 15's race on ESPN at Chicagoland Speedway.   The final "Chase Drivers" will be determined aftre Saturday night's race at Richmond.  Read more on the story here.
