Farming is always a dangerous job and even more so during spring planting and fall harvest times when the hours get even longer.  While making safety improvements can be expensive, there is financial assistance available The New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health. The John May Farm Safety Fund will cover half the costs (up to $5,000) for total project expenses.  You must meet three guidelines to be eligible:

  • Be a resident of NY who is actively farming part or full-time.
  • Farm gross receipts need to be between $10,000-$100,000.
  • Or a dairy farm with fewer than 400 milking cows.
