Four Month Investigation Leads to Charges in Sylvan Beach Fight
A Baldwinsville man is facing charges for that Sylvan Beach fight four months ago.
New York State Police responded to a large fight on the beachfront June 12th. After a lengthy investigation 21 year-old Jeremy Hauswirth of Baldwinsville was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. He is currently in the Wyoming Correction Facility on unrelated charges.
Several victims in the fight had told police it may have been bias-related. Katie Kavanagh was involved and called it a “hate crime with gay bashing.” She says her friends, Mikey Tooley and Brian Carr “were called names and when the fight started, others joined in and it escalated." \Police say there was insufficient evidence to support a bias-crime had occurred.
Hauswirth was arraigned and sent back to the custody of the New York State Corrections and Community Supervision. He is scheduled to appear back in court on November 2, 2017 at 4pm.
