Will Fort Drum Troops Fight ISIS?

President Obama is currently asking Congress to authorize military force against ISIS. Will that involve using troops from Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division?

WWNY is reporting that Fort Drum Commander Major General Stephen Townsend spoke to the Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization and mentioned possible involvement.

Townsend added, "We're going to have to deal with that...Somehow, I think that will involve Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division."

Meanwhile, north country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik issued a statement saying she is committed to making sure our military has the resources and strategy necessary.

She is reviewing the president's request with her colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee."

Keep in mind, President Obama's request is a request. We will update you further if this changes in congress.
