Former Old Forge Fire Chief & EMT Celebrating Over 60 Years Of Service
This is one of the most selfless men you will ever meet. A rare talent that's been protecting his community for over 50 years.
Meet Dan Rivet Jr.
Dan is proudly celebrating his 61st year of Fire & EMS service. He's been an EMT instructor for over 30 years and trained hundreds of EMT's. Not only that, but Dan served as Herkimer County Deputy Fire Coordinator for over 30 years and was even the Fire commissioner for more than 20 years.
He doesn't stop there! Dan also served as Town Councilman in Old Forge for 22 years. He even served as Chief of the Old Forge Fire Department for many years. Dan is still an active paramedic, training new EMT's whenever he gets the chance.
He was one of the first Advanced Life Support providers in the North Country... assisting other ambulance companies including Raquette Lake, Big Moose & Inlet.
If you have a medical emergency, you are fortunate if Dan is your responder.
Thank you Dan for your years of service to your community. You have always put other people ahead of yourself and we are extremely grateful to have you as a leader in the field.
Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in Central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers, front line workers, or any other person first on the scene.
Include their name, a picture, and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday." We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them an oil change from Jiffy Lube on Commercial Drive in New Hartford and a Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
