Farm Hands – Inside the Dancing Farmers Farm
Another year, another round of 'Farm Hands.' We kick off this season at the dancing farmer Jay Lavery's farm in Sharon Springs.
The morning started inside with turning the eggs, that need to be turned 3 times a day for 28 days. That's a lot of turning.
Then it was outside to let the ducks, turkeys and chickens out, while being followed by Hudson, Mohawk and Princess, Lavery's 3 dogs.
Goats and sheep were next. All needed to be fed and one needed to be milked, a task I'm not very good at. After a few 'pinch and roll' tries I managed to get a drop or two, which the goat kicked out of my hand.
The hardest part of the process was actually catching a goat. "You have to chase slowly," Lavery informed. But that's easier said than done as you can see in the video.
After enjoying breakfast from River Side Diner, there was only one thing left to do. I had to dance with the dancing farmer of course. Follow his moves on The Dancing Farm on Facebook.
