One of the most iconic buildings in Utica is the Uptown Theatre. This landmark has been closed since September of 2013 and now the owners have put the historic movie house up for sale. There is however a survey on Facebook that is asking people of Central New York what should be done with the Uptown.

There is no doubt that the Marquee Cinema being built in New Hartford hit the other local movie theaters pretty hard. The theater in the mall closed up shop and the Uptown has been turbulent to say the least on and off for years. The Uptown has been a part of this cities history since 1927 and to let it fail would be very disappointing. Part of the solution would be for people to give their honest thoughts about the current conditions of the space and make an effort to support it. With the survey, maybe this popular Utica staple will have a fighting chance!
