There's always lots to see, eat, and do the at the New York State Fair. One thing you may not want to overlook is a piece of boating history with a tie to Upstate New York, country music, and Alan Jackson.

Alan Jackson is no stranger to The Thousand Islands and has even spent plenty of time at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton. In addition to selling several boats at their annual auction, he donated a very rare boat to the museum, a 1955 29-foot Chris Craft. At the time of the donation, we had the opportunity to talk with Michael J Folsom with the  Museum, who put the boat's value in the high 6 figures. You can listen to the interview as he explains Alan's love of wood boats and his visits to the Thousand Islands.

The Chris Craft will be part of an exhibit at the State Fair representing 100 years of recreational boating. The display will feature historic boats dating from 1913 to current-models representing modern hull and propulsion design. The NY State Fair runs August 21 through September 2.
