Ann Soyars is a woman who is battling cancer. She has tumors on her brain, liver, kidneys, and lungs. Before the diagnosis, Ann worked at the Station Inn which is THE place for bluegrass and acoustic music. She is also Dierks Bentley's "O.F." or "Original Fan" as Dierks refers to her. The country giant broke her out of her room at Saint Thomas hospital for a cruise in his '67 Camaro.

It's good to see that Dierk's doesn't forget who his friends are. According to an article in "
The Tennessean," Bentley and Soyars have been friends for a long time!

"Dierks Bentley was a kid who would sit in," she says. "I heard him one night, found out he had an independent CD, got it, and everything on it was great. We wound up being friends. I'd go to his shows, listen and sell his CDs, and I'd tell people, 'You better hang onto this, he's gonna be big someday.'" Thirteen years later, Bentley is a major star, and those independent CDs Soyars sold now go for $100 and up on eBay. Bentley gets big bucks to play arenas all over the world, but makes more richly rewarding personal appearances up on the sixth floor at Saint Thomas.

Yet again another reason why Country Music artists are some of the kindest people and most of them do not forget where they come from. Dierks Bentley clearly is one of those artists. We wish the best of luck to Ann in her recovery.
