The plans are approved, designs are finalized and in 2018 you'll be able to ride Darien Lake's new 'beyond vertical' roller coaster.

A few weeks ago we told you about Darien Lake's plans for a new coaster that had to be approved by Genesee County's planning board.

Well the board approved, so start making plans for summer 2018 when the 'Tantrum' arrives!

The 'Tantrum' is a unique coaster that takes rider straight UP a 90 degree vertical lift 98 feet high. You'll then quickly be dropped DOWN a 97 degree drop into a 'pretzel' inversion.

You'll be pushed to speeds of 52 mph as you fly over a 'bunny hop,' then into an 'Immelmann Turn' - a fighter plane maneuver that takes you up and over while twisting all at once!

Finally, you'll scream through a tilted loop just before the ride comes to an end.

The cars on the 'Tantrum' are different than on most roller coasters also. It only consists of two four-person rows, and looks a lot different than most coaster cars.

You can see a preview of the 'Tantrum' in the Darien Lake Youtube video below:

That looks like so much fun, I can't wait to get out to Darien Lake in summer 2018!
