We know that things are much more expensive than they were 70 years ago, but when you look at the prices Darien Lake used to charge, you might want to find a time machine.

The ad is an old newspaper ad(of course, it was the 50's) that advertises Darien Lake well before there were rides and roller coasters at the park.

Back then it was simply a beach destination.

Some of the bullet points of the ad are:

  • Excellent swimming
  • Sand beach
  • Free parking
  • Shaded picnic area
  • Life Guards on duty
  • Refreshments
  • Open Daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Adults $.50
  • Children $.25
  • Children under 5 free if with a parent
  • Season Pass - Adults $5 Children $2.50

How crazy is that? $5 for a season pass!

Here's what the ad looked like from Darien Lake's Facebook page:

Wouldn't you love to see Darien Lake bring back these prices? Maybe they could for a promotion or a special anniversary.

Do you remember Darien Lake before the rides, when it was just a beach destination?
