Craig Morgan Got a Sign From God About His Late Son and the CMAs

It’s been three years since Craig Morgan's 19-year-old son tragically died in a boating accident. But the country singer insists there are signs that he's still here.

In a new interview with Taste of Country Nights, Morgan spoke about Jerry and how the date of the CMA Awards, Nov. 13, is another crazy connection to his late son.

“His jersey number — he was going to be paying football for Marshall College — his number was 13,” Morgan reflects. “That number is really significant and it's always popping up. I feel like God is always giving us those little signs.”

In fact, months ago and long before it was announced that Morgan would be appearing as a presenter at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards, "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" singer told his management team that he had a feeling.

“I said ‘I have this feeling that we are going to be doing something at the awards,' and ‘Look at what date it is,’” he recalls. “Sure enough, God just lines things up. And here we are."

Morgan may appear to have found the strength to move on, despite the pain that comes from losing a child, but he insists that he’s not really that strong at all.

“I promise I’m not,” he says. “I’m being held up by God and prayers and friends and you guys and everybody and Blake (Shelton). All of these guys who have supported us since this happened. Blake has never not been there.”

So will the two country powerhouses be getting ready together for the much anticipated awards show? “No, I mean, I don’t like him that much,” Morgan jokes.

The 2019 CMA Awards air Wednesday at 8PM ET on ABC.
