Marcy, NY (WIBX) - Robert Francis "Bobcat" Goldthwait takes his central New York roots seriously.

Having grown up in Syracuse, Goldthwait attended Saint Matthew's grammar school and Bishop Grimes Junior High School.  It was in Syracuse that he met fellow actor Tom Kenny, best known as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants) and began his stand-up act at the age of fifteen.  The two formed a comedy troupe with another East Syracuse native, Tom Nettle, called "The Generic Comics."

In an interview this morning Bobcat spoke proudly of his hometown, even rolling up his sleeves to show off his salt potato tattoo.  When asked why the salt potato?  He replied that it is what Central New York, or "the 315," is known for nationwide.  We suggested a slight correction --  salt potatoes and Bobcat Goldthwait, of course.

Check out video of his stop into three of our radio stations, WIBX 950, Big Frog and WODZ. Bobcat was nice enough to pose for pictures after each interview too.
