In addition to the time commitment there is a significant financial cost to raising healthy dairy calves. Research tells us that the better we care for heifer calves right from birth, the more milk and therefore more income they are likely to give in return.  Cornell Cooperative Extension will conduct a free class on making sure they get the best start possible.

Are you doing everything you can to successfully raise your calves? Could they be healthier? You'll get the answers to those questions and many others at the class, "Calf Health and Feeding: Are We Doing Our Best?" It's free to attend and even comes with lunch. The class is Friday, January 15 from 11 to 1:30 at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County's offices at 121 Second St. Oriskany. The featured presenters will be veterinarians from Leatherstocking Veterinary Services.  You do need to make reservations by January 11th, do so by calling 315-736-3394 ext. 132
