You can still do karate in the garage, but sorry, the rumors that Step Brothers 2 will be filming in Syracuse are false.

This headline has been popping up all over Facebook in Central New York:

When you click this link, you are brought to a pretty real-looking website called 16 WMPO. It even goes on to give what looks like a real synopsis of what the Step Brothers sequel is all about, claiming that the movie's 'producers' released the following storyline:

“The two step brothers have moved to Syracuse, New York where they live together and also work together at the same menial job. Dale finds out that he’s somehow impregnated his ‘girlfriend’ but when the young woman leaves the new baby with Dale and Brennan the two are left to raise the child themselves.”

The funny thing is the article has no date, author or attributed links anywhere in the story, and that's a red flag in any online article.

Plus there's this: is an entertainment website composed mostly of articles containing satire.  None of the articles on should be considered true and are simply works of satire meant for entertainment purposes.

Yeah, that is written in the 'Disclaimer' tab on the 16wmpo website.

And why Dale and Brennan would move to Syracuse from California is beyond us, but either way its still not true.

If you feel let down by this news or even like you've been had, don't worry, the same thing has been happening all over the country.

A quick Google search shows multiple similar claims that the movie is filming in other random locations in Texas, Connecticut and Illinois.

There are two simple ways to verify claims about movies like this one.

First, a simple search on Internet Movie Database) shows all of Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and writer Adam Mckay's completed and upcoming projects. If a Step Brothers sequel was in the works, it would be there if anywhere.

Next, the website ran an article last March that proved the rumors wrong.

As much as we would like to see Dragon and Nighthawk again - and here in Central New York of course - it looks like we're just going to have to wait a little longer.
