If you received an email from Amazon that an item was bought of your baby registry, and you don't have a registry, was this a scam or virus? Amazon has provided answers.

Amazon sent emails out saying that people bought you a baby gift off of your registry and it was coming to you. This massive glitch was sent out to thousands of users. When you clicked the link in the email, it either brought you to a blank page, or to a search page.

So was this a scam or virus? Should you be concerned?

Amazon spoke to BuzzFeed and said that this was just a technical glitch, and nothing to be afraid of:

“We are notifying affected customers. A technical glitch caused us to inadvertently send a gift alert e-mail earlier today. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

So never fear, and sorry for the confusion. Shop on.
