Alligator on the Loose in Whitney Point Captured, Given New Home

The alligator that's been on the loose in Whitney Point has a new home. The Department of Environmental Conservation found and captured the gator over the weekend.

The DEC found the alligator behind the fairgrounds in Whitney Point. They believe it was someone's pet who let it loose.

Kayakers discovered the gator along the Tioughnioga River between Whitney Point and Lisle a week ago. It became so popular, the alligator even has its own Facebook page.

You can see the famous alligator at the Animal Adventure Park where it was taken after being captured to join the infamous April the giraffe.

The gator may be well known but it's not as famous Norm, the cow that was on the loose for almost four months in New Hartford before being captured by two cowboys.

Norm made national headlines, with a story in the Associated Press and memes in BuzzFeed. It even has its own Facebook page and song.
