It took New York State forest rangers about 8 hours to contain a wildfire in the Adirondack Mountains.  The blaze burned about 3 acres of land near Nye Mountain Thursday, October 13th.

Several fire companies were dispatched to the Northville-Placid Trail where the fire erupted.  The Times Union reports that the fire fighters assisted state forest rangers in fighting the wildfire.  As of Thursday evening, the fire was over 90 percent contained.

Much of the Adirondacks have been under drought conditions for the past few months.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
