A Horse Course Presented by Cornell of Course, of Course

Whether you're a seasoned horse veteran, just beginning to start a horse farm, or have ever thought about the idea; Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County is offering an online course to assist any size of operation.

The Equine Management Series is a five part online course covering fundamentals in equine management, including behavior, nutrition, finances and liability management. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 9th and concluding March 25th. The series is organized by CCE Madison’s Executive Director, Dr. Karin Bump, CNY Regional Team’s Nicole Tommell, and other knowledgeable equine specialists.

Each session is two-hours, with 90 minutes of presentations followed by at least 30 minutes of questions and discussions from attendees. You can attend all of the sessions or any individual one. Here's the schedule of sessions:

Tuesday, March 9th, 6-8pm: Pre-Course – Horse Basics for the New or Potential Owner with Dr. Karin Bump, Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Thursday, March 11th, 6-8pm: – Equine Behavior Management with Dr. Karin Bump, Cornell Cooperative Extension

Tuesday, March 16th, 6-8pm: Nutrition management with Dr. Tania Cubitt, Equine Nutritionist with Performance Horse Nutrition.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 6-8pm: Financial Management with Anna Richards, Owner of 2020 consulting and Nicole Tommell, Farm Business Specialist with the CNYDLFC Regional Team.

Thursday, March 25th, 6-8pm: Risk Management– Insights & Tips on Avoiding Liability from a Lawyer with Julie Fershtman, Attorney and Author of Equine Law & Horse Sense
