9/11 Lights Among Christmas Display Highlights in Rome
Rome may be home to the best Christmas lights displays in Central New York. From the 9/11 memorial to a home that will put the Griswold's to shame. You can see it all in the video montage above and get directions to each below.
Police Station
The Rome Police Department is in the holiday spirit with a lights display on N James Street.
Fire Station
The Rome Fire Department honors the men and women who gave all on 9/11. You'll see the touching display across from the station on Black River Boulevard.
Fort Stanwix Parking Garage
The Fort Stanwix Parking Garage on N. James Street is brightly lit to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. You can't miss it since it's one of the biggest in Rome.
Veteran's Park/Gansevoort Park
The Veteran's Park on North James Street is also home to a beautiful display that fills both sides of the street. You can even see inside Santa's home.
Vogel Park
Don't miss the lights around Vogel Park on North George Street. You can even drive around the round-about and enjoy the display from the comfort of your warm car.
Christmas Holiday House on N James
The official kick off of the Christmas holiday house on North James was this weekend. You can listen to the music Monday through Friday on your radio or outdoors on the weekend.
Route 26 in Lee Center
Just outside Rome, along Route 26 a few homes are lit up for the holiday season.
Clinton Street
You get 3 for the price of one on Clinton street. Scott Magnanti sent photos of his light display and when we drove by, we were surprised with 3. His neighbor and the house across the street are all decorated for a friendly light display competition.
Linden Street
Disney comes to life on Linden Street where all the Christmas decorations are handmade by 18 year-old James Mathy.
Locust Street
Locust Street across from Franklyn's Field features another home with handmade cutouts. This one pay homage to Seasame Street.
Ft Stanwix Park North
The award for most lights in Rome goes to the Holeck family, who's home on Fort Stanwix Park may be visible from space. I can't imagine how long it took to put up or what their electricity bill is but it was the busiest display in Rome for visitors.
