This winter you could win $100,000 or more in cash and prizes by taking part in the New York State Winter Classic Fishing Tournament.

The third annual New York State Winter Classic Fishing Tournament runs January 1st through February 28th 2017. The tournament will accept catches from all state freshwater waterways and has 58 official weigh-in stations at marinas, bait stores and sporting good stores across the state. There's still plenty of time to enter. The entry fee is only $25.

According to Syracuse.com, The Winter Classic offers a wide variety of categories and payouts to compete in. There are seven fish categories: trout (browns, lakers, steelhead/rainbows), northern pike, walleye, pickerel, crappie, yellow perch and panfish (sunnies, bluegills).

The tournament offers weekly, monthly and overall largest fish prizes, female angler awards, a $2,500 Clam Corp. grand prize winner (a random draw from all the first place fish at the tournament's end), a $5,000 Case motorized canoe for largest overall fish - along with catch and release options for trout and pike.

You can find several weigh in stations here in Central New York. Click Here to see the full map.
