1.1% Of All Mexican Grey Wolves Now Live In Utica
Just arriving from California, the Utica Zoo's newest residents - 4 Mexican Grey Wolves.
Mexican Grey Wolves are extremely endangered with only about 450 left in the world.
The new wolves are all male, 2 years-old and siblings. The wolves all come from the California Wolf Center outside of San Diego, and now join the Zoo's female Sierra.
Zoo officials say the group is ding very well together so far.
Of the 450 left in the world, 5 now call Utica home, while about 300 are in zoos and safe holding facilities.
There are approximately 114 in the wild in Arizona and New Mexico.
You can see the new wolves in their enclosure on the North Trek Nature Trail at the Utica Zoo 363 days a year.
