One of the biggest Christmas Trees in New York State is undoubtedly the Norway Spruce that spends the holidays in Rockefeller Center in New York City. That tree is over 75 feet tall. Locally, there is a tree that sits at a little taller than 30 feet tall and you can see it in Oneida.

Nye Automotive in Oneida, NY places a tree in their showroom every year. This tradition dates back over 20 years. This tree does not come from some remote forest. It comes from the property right behind the NYE Auto complex on Route 5. The Nye family planted the trees over 30 years ago and that's how old the tree that currently sits in the showroom is. The current owner, Billy Nye, cuts the massive timber down himself and drags it to the building with a bobcat. Then, the work truly begins!

Watch as 15 NYE team members attempt to raise a tree over 30 feet tall in the showroom! Will they do it? Stay tuned to find out!

This video shows multiple NYE employees attempting to raise the massive structure which is said to take an entire day. This year the tree finally got up, but before it was set permanently, it had fallen or slid multiple times. It's not like your home Christmas tree falling down, that's a BIG TREE! After the tree is finally up, they take more time to decorate it.

The big question is why do the workers at this long-time local business take so much time to do such a complex process? For local families of course! Over thirty years ago, Carol Neveu and Harold Nye both had a dream to help others and created a program designed to bring the community together and celebrate the holiday season by giving back. What began as a community outreach plan for employees, Share A Caring Christmas has grown in popularity, and is considered an annual tradition of many area families, schools, and businesses that collect toys and donate to this great cause, every holiday season. In 2014, the Nye Share A Caring Christmas helped over 700 families in 5 counties have a happier holiday season. NYE Auto is taking donations all the way up until Christmas. Stop by Nye Ford, located at 1479 Genesee Street, in Oneida. They will take any new or gently used toys or monetary donations. For more information call (315) 363-0600.
