Target will be eliminating over 1,000 jobs in an effort to cut costs by about $2 Billion. Job loss is always scary, but when it comes to a retail chain with a location here in Central New York, we always get worried about our neighbors.

According to Reuters,

Target said the job cuts would primarily come from corporate locations in the Minneapolis area and in India that collectively employ about 26,000 people, and not from its roughly 1,800 stores across the United States.

It was only a few months ago that Target announced it would stop all operations in Canada. I don't understand how the retail giant is doing so bad. I really enjoy their products and they seem to have their stuff together when it comes to marketing, but again it may be that the US Stores are doing fine. For the time being it looks like our store here locally will be safe, but at this rate who knows what the future holds.
