If you haven't been to the Utica Zoo lately, you'll be pleasantly surprised! I did a Big Frog 104 live broadcast at the zoo on Saturday and was amazed at the exhibits of over 100 exotic animals, the jungle environment trails between sections, and so much more. And during this last week of the "Frog Days Of Summer", tonight's your last chance for free admission Monday at the zoo.
It may not be the most beautiful creature in nature but it has a wonderful personality. A bit "prickly" at times but nice. It's the African Crested Porcupine and it joins a serval--a medium sized African cat---as the newest arrivals at the Utica Zoo. WKTV reports that the zoo got some help in building enclosures for the newcomers.
"It's all happening at the zoo". The famous line from Simon and Garfunkel's "At the Zoo" rings true tonight as the Utica Zoo kicks off it's Monday night free admission special. According to WKTV the zoo will offer free admission tonight, July 9th, August 13th and September 17th. The zoo has a number of special events planned throughout the summer.
The "Frog Days of Summer" must be fast approaching, as one of the signature events of the season is coming up at the Utica Zoo next month.
Mother's Day is this Sunday, and the Utica Zoo has a few moms of its own you can celebrate with. The mother and daughter you see here belong to the feline family...big felines!
Tadpole and I enjoyed the Wine in the Wilderness event at the Utica Zoo. I have to admit, I've never been to the zoo before. It was a nice evening and a great way to experience the zoo for the first time. Thanks to the ladies who took our picture in front of the infamous watering can, and for sharing their wine.
If you're looking for something a little wild to do this weekend, why not enjoy some wine and animals. The Utica Zoo is hosting Wine in the Wilderness Saturday night June 4th from 6-9. You can tour the zoo while touring the wines of the region(and beyond). Enjoy fine foods from local restaurants while sampling fine wines and beers!
Simon and Garfunkel once sang, "It's all happening at the zoo" and maybe they had the Utica Zoo in mind. According to the Utica O-D the zoo has received a shipment of new animals including two strip hyenas, a yak, and a crested porcupine. They join other recent arrivals such as an African lion and sea lion.
