March 18, 2013 As you may be aware by our Frogcast today, the Utica-Rome area could see significant snow beginning late this afternoon and continuing overnight (4 - 7 inches possible). In anticipation of the snowfall, the City of Utica is declaring a snow emergency beginning tonight.

January 9, 2013 Now here's a winter sport that doesn't require a lot of expertise or money...snow tubing! There are a number of local tubing runs in the area, and it can be a fun way to spend a winter day.
January 5, 2013 Now that it's January, we're going to be doing more and more snow shoveling. Even though I own a snow blower, I still shovel the sidewalk and the snow off the deck. At the end of those chores, I often say that tired old phrase, "Oh my aching back". There is a better, healthier and safer way to shovel.

We've already seen some snow during the "Frog Days of Fall", and much more will be on the way. Every year, we hear advise on how not to over exert ourselves, when shoveling.

March 7, 2011 Digging out was a familiar site this morning. I managed to get out of the driveway, but didn't make it out of the lane. The guy who plows our drive ended up having to tow us out. I called for a tow truck this morning, but needless to say it would have been hours before they got to me. So like many others this morning, I was a lot late to work.
